Dr.  Dave has spent his life in a Veterinary Clinic.  He grew up going on calls with his Dad in Warrenton, MO.  After attending the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine he practiced south of Kansas City for a few years.  In 2010, he made the move to South Dakota and​ resides south of Mitchell with his wife Shirley, children Connor, Max, Maggie, Charlie and various farm animals.  




​​​​Dr. Cassie 1Dr. Cassie Hilbrands, DVM

Dr. Cassie is a South Dakota native from Elk Point.  She did her undergraduate studies at the University of South Dakota, and then on to Veterinary School at Iowa State University.  She spent a summer with us in 2018 and has been here a few times over the last couple years for her preceptorships.  You may have already had the opportunity to meet her.  If not, she is looking forward to knowing all our wonderful patients and clients. 

Dr. Cassie's twin sister and brother-in-law live in Mitchell.  As she is making Mitchell her new home, she and her Husky Skye have family members in town to show her around our great community.  During her free time, you will probably see her and Skye running the bike trails of Mitchell, or on the golf course.  She also enjoys spending her time gardening.

​​​​Dr. Jason Dr. Jason Heezen, DVM

Growing up in Plankinton and the son of a Veterinarian, Dr. Jason was born with a passion for animals and veterinary science.  In his 20 plus years of practice he has treated animals in the Mitchell, Plankinton and Sioux Falls areas.  Dr. Jason and his wife Angie have three grown children, Cody, Emma and Noah.  He enjoys home improvement, flying airplanes, traveling and working on vintage cars.  Also former owner of Safe Haven Animal Clinic, Dr. Jason Heezen decided it was time for semi-retirement.  Dr. Jason will be providing services here at Creekside on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  The addition of Dr. Jason allows us to continue our mission of being Compassionate Stewards of Animal Health.  We are excited to have him, his experience and expertise as part of our team!

Amanda crAmanda Graves

Amanda joined our team as the Office Manager in February of 2018.  Before joining our team, she worked at Muth Electric, Inc. as a recruiter for over 10 years.  Amanda grew up on a ranch just outside of Chamberlain and was involved in rodeo and 4-H.  She enjoys the outdoors, loves to camp, travel and spend as much time as possible creating memories with family and friends.  She is the mother of 2 beautiful children, Matteah and Madden, has 2 dogs and is married to Brian Graves.  She and Brian are part owners of Granite Springs Lodge in Alexandria, SD.  If you haven't met Amanda on the sidelines while cheering Matteah and Madden on at softball, gymnastics, baseball or soccer games, please stop by Creekside Veterinary Clinic and say Hi!

All my life, I have had a passion for animals. Growing up in Canistota, SD, I participated in 4-H showing horses and owned a Shetland Sheepdog named Cody. I graduated from Globe University in September of 2013 with a degree in Veterinary Technology. In the time since graduation, I have become certified and registered in my field. I currently live in the Mitchell area with my two kids and a enagerie of pets.

Shelby grew up on a small family farm east of Parkston and has always been surrounded by animals, big and small. She graduated from Globe University with a degree in Applied Science in Veterinary Technology in 2015. Shelby now resides in Mitchell with her many fury family members and her husband Zain.

Magen Young

Magen grew up in Mitchell.  In 2018, she graduated from Ridgewater College in Willmar, MN with an Associates Degree in Applied Science in Veterinary Technology. During her time in college, she worked as a Kennel Attendant and Adoption Counselor at Hawk Creek Animal Shelter.  After graduating she traveled to South Africa to further her studies as a Veterinary Technician.  Magen then spent three months at Creekside as an Intern and decided she had found her happy place within the Creekside Team.  She currently lives in Mitchell with her husband Branden, three cats; Meko, Milo and Laura and their dog Moose.

Carolyn grew up in Canistota, SD. Her family always had small animals growing up. She currently lives in Mitchell with her husband, stepson and 2 dogs. She loves spending time with family and friends. In her spare time she enjoys watching and playing sports.

​Sarah was born and raised in Mitchell, where she currently resides. She has identical twin boys named Tristin and Taylor.  Sarah loves all animals, her boys love all animals as well and are so excited to meet any new animal.

Sierra grew up in Chamberlain, SD where she spent a lot of her time on her family farm working cattle and farming. In 2015, Sierra moved to Mitchell to attend Mitchell Technical Institute for Agriculture Production and graduated in 2017. While in school, Sierra became an intern here at Creekside and discovered her passion for working with dogs. Although Sierra had never owned a dog of her own before, we quickly noticed her natural care for animals. She now has several four legged children, a cat named "Benny" and a canine boxer named "Willy".  Sierra also enjoys outdoor activities such as being at the river, working with animals, playing softball and do-it-yourself projects.

Grace currently attends Mitchell High School where she is involved in Marching band, Jazz band, Friend de Coup, and various clubs, such as HOSA.  Outside of school, she enjoys showing her two dogs, Truman and Sig, in 4-H and spending time with her family.  Grace lives with her parents, Brian and Ranae Phinney, younger sister, Page and 4 dogs northeast of Mitchell.  Grace plans on attending South Dakota State University in the fall of 2019 for Animal Science - Pre-Vet and a minor in Spanish.

McKenzie grew up on her family acreage, just outside of Mitchell.  As a 2017 graduate from Mitchell High School, McKenzie participated in 4H dog classes, shooting sports and FFA.  McKenzie also enjoys hunting, hiking, fishing with her canine companion Piper.  With years of canine behavior knowledge, we are delighted to have McKenzie on our team!  Rest assured knowing your pets are well cared for while in lodging or here for daycare, by McKenzie and the rest of our lodging staff.

Crystal resides outside of Mitchell at Reclamation-Ranch with her husband Quinton, son Quincey and daughter Lilly, their three dogs Ralph and Rocket, two cats Dave Kitty and Duke, many horses and 13 farm cats. Crystal enjoys assisting individuals to achieve their life goals through therapeutic animals at Reclamation-Ranch and Helping with Horsepower. She also loves working and being outdoors. Joining the team at Creekside Veterinary Clinic has allowed her to continue her passion of helping people and their animals as a fellow compassionate steward of animal health.

Vanessa was born and raised in Mitchell, SD.  She grew up three blocks from Hitchcock Park, so she spent most of her childhood at the pool.  She enjoys bowling with her boyfriend and playing softball in the summer.  She has always had a love for animals and currently has two dogs, four Guinea Pigs and an African Clawed Frog. 






Char Sonne 150Char Sonne

Char is from a large family and grew up in Rock Valley, Iowa.  She met her husband Greg there and together they made the decision to move north of Mount Vernon to farm with his family.  She enjoys helping on the farm, working cattle, and doing yard work.  She has 3 children and 7 grandchildren who light up her life.  Other hobbies include scrapbooking, quilting and her flower gardens.  you can meet Char at the front desk or when you call to set up your appointment.

Melissa's very first grooming was her family's long haired cat, Fluffy, when she was 15 years old.  She hand scissored Fluffy in short increments over the course of 2 days.  Little did she know, that interest would end up being a wonderful career choice!  Melissa grew up in Mitchell, and currently lives near Alexandria with her husband, John.  They have 4 children, a dog, many cats, horses and cattle.  Pet styling has been her life for 26 years, with a renewed passion for making pets look and feel their best since joining the team here at Creekside Veterinary Clinic.

Chasity Weeks

Chasity has been working with pets professionally since 2012.  She has held multiple positions at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society.  She also has experience in assisting at a boarding facility and volunteered numerous hours at several local animal rescues.  Chasity began her pet styling career at Petco in Sioux Falls in October of 2017.  Chasity received her pet stylist certification through Petco where she learned the leading standards of pet styling safety.  Her main priority is the safety and well-being of your pets during their entire styling process.  When Chasity isn't grooming or volunteering, she is spending her time with her husband, 2 dogs and 2 cats.  Chasity is very excited to join the Creekside team to provide quality pet styling services.  Call Creekside Vet to set up your pet's spa day with Chasity!
